With the increasing interest of young and old in the poultry industry, there was the need for quality supply of doc for the commencement and sustainability of the industry.

It was of this need and interest that conceived the idea of establishing a hatchery to support the local poultry industry in Ghana and to a bigger extent for export purposes by Akate farms.

In the year 2003, an ultra modern hatchery with an initial capacity of 115,000 setter capacity and 19,200 Hatcher capacities was established.

The growing demand for quality doc over the years served as a basis for a much quicker and tremendous expansion to a current capacity of 691,000 setter capacity and 115,200 Hatcher capacities.

Currently, Akate farms is able to produce 80,000 layer DOC at its peak production per week, 10,000 broiler doc and 5000 guinea fowl Kitts.
